About the
Artist
Five years ago I was introduced to creating stained glass. I have
always been intrigued by it. Once I tried it, I became hooked. Since
then I have been working hard at perfecting my craft. Currently I
have this wonderful opportunity, thanks to my husband, to pursue a
career as an artist. I am very excited as I begin this new chapter of
my career.

I  have been creating art for most of my life. When I was about ten
years old I began taking art lessons from a local artist on the
eastern shore of Maryland. Mrs. Slot taught me to paint in a realistic
style using oils and watercolors.

In 1990 I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from Clemson
University. While I was at Clemson I was exposed to many types of
art such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. I
fell in love with printmaking and made it my concentration. I
particularly enjoyed lithography.

After I received my BFA, I went on to become a certified K-12 art
teacher. For a brief time I taught in Queen Anne's County Public
Schools in Queen Anne's County Maryland. Then for the next ten
and a half years I taught for the public schools of Anne Arundel
County Maryland. During that time I continued to create art in some
way. I also taught ceramic classes (hand-building) to local children
and adults through the
Kent Island Federation of Art. For the past
four years I have been creating pieces on the potters wheel as well.
